What makes our service different from all of our competitors? The first generation of personal emergency response systems continues to offer individuals the ability to summon help with the simple push of a button. While that system has proven to be very helpful, the next generation of personal emergency response systems has expanded its ability to help in many ways. Our new system includes the same basic feature as the original system, but offers many new features as well. The Medication/Event Reminder feature allows the base station to be programmed to remind individuals of necessary ten tasks such as taking medication, testing glucose levels, etc. At the programmed time, an automated voice from the base station announces the task to be performed and repeats the task several times. A lighted button on the base station blinks to remind the individual of whether or not they have completed the required task should they later forget. The button must be pushed in order to stop the reminder light. After three different reminders are missed, the monitoring service is notified. They in turn can notify the caregivers or the family members of the individual. The Inactivity Monitoring feature is a wireless motion detector that is placed in the area of the home through which the individual moves most frequently. The base station is programmed to monitor movement in that area at two points in the day to check for activity in the home. Should no movement be detected, the monitoring service attempts to speak with the individual through the two-way communication device located in the base station. If there is no response, emergency services are contacted as well as the caregivers and/or family members of the individual. The Fall Detection Monitoring involves a device which is worn around the waist. Should the individual wearing this device experience a fall, the base station sounds a warning that a fall has been detected. If the individual is able to get up the unit resets itself; if not, the monitoring service is contacted. One of the monitoring service attendants then seeks to assess the situation through the two-way communication device. If there is still no response or if the fallen individual expresses a need of assistance, emergency services are notified as well as the caregivers and/or family members of the individual. |
